installation instructions. |
Macro |
A custom Voice
Command created by the speech recognition user to perform a
specific function. Typical functions would
include such things as: |
Natural Language Commands |
A set of thousands of commands
provided by the manufacturer that allow the features of an application
to be accessed with a wide variety of intuitive commands. These
commands are not really documented, but rather the idea is for the user
to simply ask for a feature or function using the words that seem most
reasonable and to have that command recognized properly. The Natural Language commands must be enabled in the NaturallySpeaking Options menu and are only available for a limited number of applications and versions, for example MS Word 2000 and XP among others. Most of the Natural Language commands can be found in the Command Browser under the appropriate application name and version number. |
Non-standard
Window |
Dragon NaturallySpeaking's full
capabilities are only available in Standard Windows. When
dictating into non-standard windows some commands, especially "select
and say" commands may not function properly. Other problems
include spacing problems and capitalization problems. In version
10 of NaturallySpeaking, the green dot on the DragonBar next to
the microphone view meter is green when dictating into a standard
window and grayed out when dictating into a non-standard window. |
Out of the Box |
Refers to the capabilities of a
program as it comes from the manufacturer, without any customizing. |
Results Box |
The small box which appears on the
screen and displays the results of the last utterance.
A blue border around the box
indicates that results was recognized as a valid voice command. |
Scripting |
One of several types of Voice Commands or Macros.
Scripting commands use the Advanced Scripting (or programming)
method of creating custom commands in the Command
Browser. The Advanced Scripting process uses Visual Basic, or
a Dragon version of Visual Basic, to create the custom voice commands. |
Select and Say | A technology in NaturallySpeaking
which allows the user to move to, and select, words in a document
by simply reading them. This functionality is automatically
implemented for a limited number of applications including Microsoft
Word and WordPerfect. It is not compatible with all applications. Select
and Say compatibility can be added to some additional
applications by support personal trained to make the necessary changes
to the NaturallySpeaking program. |
Selected Text |

in reversed highlight) by:
|
Spell or Correction
Dialog

displayed in response to the "Correct" commands such as "Correct That" or "Correct rackets".
Note: Only letters and numbers can be dictated into the Spell Dialog Box, words can not be dictated. |
Utterance | All of the dictation between
pauses. An utterance defines the text to be affected when using
commands such as "Scratch
That", "Bold
That",
"Cap That", etc. |
Vocabulary Builder | A NaturallySpeaking utility
that is used to (1) add a list of words to the vocabulary, and (2)
modify the vocabulary statistical model by analyzing large numbers
of WordPerfect or MS Word documents. Vocabulary Builder provides
the most advantage when used as soon as possible after a new voice file
is created. |
Voice Commands |
Commands that perform an action such
as starting an application, saving a file, selecting a menu option.
Thousands of NaturallySpeaking Voice Commands are available "out

to perform additional functions. Voice Commands can be reviewed, created, modified, or deleted using the Command Browser located in the Tools menu of NaturallySpeaking. |
